Este Arte international contemporary art fair January 5 to 8

I am very pleased to announce that I will participate to the second edition of Este Arte, international contemporary art fair in Punta del Este - Uruguay.
My works will be presented there by Galerie Heinzer Reszler along with works from Sophie Bouvier Ausländer, Adrien Couvrat and Sylvain Croci-Torti

On this occasion  Relative I, a new video work will be shown for the first time in the dedicated projection space of the fair.

"Image Électrique", exposition collective La Chambre, Strasbourg.

[[New works about the electricity production facilities along the Rhine river will be visible at La Chambre art center this month.
This is a collective commissioned exhibition featuring images by Léo Delafontaine and Thomas Jorion and mines.  Pictures were taken in a number of different production sites, including Fessenheim nuclear site and the gorgeous Kembs plant.

Table ronde autour de la publication "Landmark: The fields of landscape photography"

Suite à la récente publication de Landmark: The Fields of Landscape Photography, saluée par la critique, une discussion ouverte se tiendra en présence de photographes et de conservateurs internationaux autour des tendances dans la photographie de paysage du 21e siècle. Cet échange sera animé par William Ewing, auteur de l’ouvrage et directeur de projets curatoriaux chez Thames and Hudson.

It was a great pleasure to be part of the collective show curated by William Ewing "Landmark: the Fields of Landscape Photography" in London at Somerset House in spring 2013. Now it is again a great honor to be part of the related publication with some works from the Monuments series.

Here is what Thames & Hudson says about the book:

Landmark is a defining survey of contemporary landscape photography. It features more than 230 images by over 100 leading photographers of today, all of whom present an individual viewpoint about a shared concern for our changing landscape and environment. The book is organized around ten themes and includes work by such distinguished practitioners as Edward Burtynsky, Stéphane Couturier, Mitch Epstein and Sally Mann. From restful, bucolic images capturing the last vestiges of ‘nature’, through shocking depictions of a sullied Earth, scarred and abused, to surreal and artificial landscapes where the ‘natural’ landscape is a highly controlled one, the book provides a thought-provoking meditation on the meaning of landscape in today’s world. 

Here is what Francis Hodgson from The Financial Times said about the show:

William A. Ewing has curated what is surely the defining overview of the contemporary approaches to landscape. With an illuminating text explaining his own waymarks and signposts, and without making any bones about its being a necessarily personal selection, he gives us here a chance to reclaim landscape photography from its fractured state and see it in the round.

I am convinced that the book will get as much success as the show.

Le Japan Media Art Festival est un festival d'Art des medias qui distingue des travaux d'origine diverses -de l'animation, à la bande dessinée, en passant par les nouveaux medias et jusqu'au jeu vidéo. [...] Depuis sa création en 1997, le festival a récompensé des travaux reconnus pour leur maitrise et leur créativité, et en plus de l'exposition des travaux récompensés a organisé de nombreux évènements, conférences, projections et démonstrations. Trades series is part of the Jury Selection of the 2014 Japan Media Arts Festival. 

The Japan Media Arts Festival is a comprehensive festival of Media Arts (=Media Geijutsu) that honors outstanding works from a diverse range of media- from animation and comics to media art and games.  [...] Since its inception in 1997, the festival has recognized significant works of high artistry and creativity, and in addition to a yearly Exhibition of Award-winning Works has held other events, such as symposiums, screenings, and showcases. This year the 17th Festival received a record 4,347 entries from 84 countries and regions around the world, demonstrating its continuing evolution as an established annual international festival.

Video mapping extends corridor using videogame recordings

Created especially for a private event this installation uses animated captures from videogames like Doom, Gta V or Farcry 3 to extend the corridor's space of a law firm headquarters. The same day, images from TV, Monuments and Vous êtes ici series where exhibited in the building.

Créé spécialement pour un événement privé cette installation utilise des captures animées de jeux vidéo comme Doom, GTA V ou Farcry 3, pour étendre l'espace du couloir situé au siège d'un cabinet d'avocats. En même temps, des images des séries TV, Monuments et Vous êtes ici sont exposées dans le bâtiment.

Noorderlicht Photofestival 2013

From 1 September through 13 October, 2013, Noorderlicht is mounting five exhibitions and 20 smaller international presentations. This photographic event takes place at a new cultural venue: the Old Sugar Factory, an impressive industrial complex in Groningen. 

Trades series will be shown in a printed version in one of the festival's main shows:

I will have he privilege to participate to the fALSEfAKE collective show curated by
M. Joerg Bader in association with Sébastien Leseigneur.

A piece of the new Trades series ​will be shown there. Trades is a series of alternative representations of the activity on the financial markets.
