Arles 2012: Hypermarket is the place.

I am really proud to participate to this collective exhibition "Digital Heritage" at the Last Hypermarket in Arles.

What is this exhibition about ?

"[...]not the digital works as a central subject but rather as a practice assimilated by many authors using photography[...]"

which is definitely the way it should be!

Phnom Penh work online

Remember the Photo Phnom Penh festival 2010?

Well, the 2011 edition is about to take place in November and the images I did for the 2010 editionare now online.

I had three weeks to photograph the city of Phnom Penh and produce the big wall exhibited on the fence of the french Embassy (see exhibition view section on my website). I was particularly interested on the very fast and ambiguous urban developpement of the city.

I will participate to Fotografia festival 2011 (10th edition) with a large selection of Monuments series images in the "Datascape" show curated by Valentina Tanni.

The theme of the Festival’s 10th edition is  MOTHERLAND,  a word that should stimulate an analysis of the relationship between land and identity, between territory and values, between roots and the complexity of contemporary life, with a special focus on Italy, which this year is celebrating its first century and a half of unit

"Art et Architecture" Exhibition in Assens, CH.

This exhibition in the very particular space of the Assens cultural center is the second part of a dyptich about Art and Architecture.
It is also a very special experience for me since the challenge for this show was to produce work in-situ. The 3 exhibited pieces are then produced in and from the architecture of the exhibition space.

I am very pleased to be part of this exhibition along with Renate Buser, Carmen Perrin, Judith Albert, Sébastien Mettraux and, Julian Charrière.

Opening: June 18th, 18:00

I would like to say a huge thank you to the Espace Culturel d'Assens Team, and to the curators of this show, Mme Doris Wälchli & M. Ueli Brauen from the Brauen + Wälchli studio in Lausanne.

Elements series at 14-1 Galerie, Stuttgart. March 19th to April 21th

The French located artist Mathieu Bernard-Reymond explores, extends and ultimately challenges the basic concepts of "reality" and "truth" simultaneously in his creation. In his series “Elements” 2010/2011, which will be shown the first time in the gallery, Mathieu Bernard-Reymond gambles with the reality of images and tries to conquer old-fashioned perceptual patterns with digital manipulation. He deals with enlargement, coincidence , enhacement and recapitulations. By gathering and demonstrating moments of disarrangements, the series “Elements” describes a metadicourse about creating and alterting images.

"The series “Elements” collects fragments of a story forever unfinished. They are allusions to the process of creating and manipulating images. Where the action of fabricating a credible reality has suddenly been interrupted and the images are displayed in their unfinished state... The process is an attempt to show the forbidden areas where creative tools become a tangible part of the subject. Sometimes we may even be taken back to the reality presented, as if the digital manipulations were reaching into the realm of actual surface or penetrating materials as basic as the components of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements. I choose to show things I usually hide in order to continue to tell the tale of what lies beneath the images I encounter." (Mathieu Bernard-Reymond).
